360 Enhancer

The Classic D CAT 22 Trick

REC Mode – Dynamic Enhancement

In REC mode, Using the Bands 3 and 4 Program delivers dynamic processing above approximately 3 kHz and 9 kHz, respectively. This produces a silky top end, enhanced vocal presence, greater clarity and that unmistakable analogue air, without relying on conventional EQ boosting.

I’ve developed a special template that allows Bands 3 and 4 to be triggered independently.

In use-

The lower the input level, the brighter the effect. Turning the Input control all the way down produces a static EQ curve, while increasing the input progressively flattens the response. Everything in between is dynamic.

Finding the sweet spot is all about how hard or softly we drive the input, allowing to dial in anything from subtle analogue sparkle to more pronounced enhancement.

The hardware was also modified to allow other individual band selection.

Instances-

  • Band 3: Upper-mid enhancement only.
  • Band 4: High-frequency enhancement only.
  • Bands 3 + 4:The classic CAT22, combining both bands.

PLAY Mode – Dynamic Subtractive EQ

PLAY mode offers a different approach, essentially functioning as a dynamic subtractive EQ.

Unlike REC mode, which enhances selected frequencies, PLAY mode dynamically reduces them. With the Input control at its lowest setting, the amount of subtraction is at its greatest.

As the input level changes, the frequency response adjusts dynamically, creating an effect similar to a frequency-dependent expander.

This provides an alternative way to shape the upper-mid and high-frequency content, offering dynamic tonal control rather than conventional static EQ.

Features-

  • Line and Harmonic coloration Instance
  • REC MODE Bands 3,4 and 3+4 instances
  • PLAY MODE  Bands 3,4 and 3+4 instances
  • MIX for further fine tuning if the effect is too strong
  • 4 sample rates 96,88.2,48,44.1
